A Scenic Saturday Adventure: Trek/Fit's Amberley to Arundel Hike

Hikers on an adventure in West Sussex

On Saturday, 25th March, our LGBTQ+ hiking group, Trek/Fit, embarked on a spectacular hike from Amberley to Arundel. The day was filled with ever-changing weather, new friendships, and a myriad of photogenic moments captured with my trusty Fujifilm X-H2S. Let's dive into the details of this unforgettable journey!

Setting Off:

Our adventure began at London's Victoria Station, where our diverse group of hikers, both seasoned and new, gathered with excitement. Alongside a mix of friends and newcomers, we were also joined by a plethora of adorable doggos. With everyone on board, we set off for Amberley, ready to embrace the unpredictable weather ahead.

A Changeable Day:

The day presented us with a unique mix of sun and rain, as the two interchanged every 20 minutes. Although it was windy, the patchy sky cast beautiful shadows on the landscapes, offering countless photo opportunities for our group of avid photographers, including myself with my Fujifilm X-H2S in hand. Despite the weather's indecisiveness, our spirits remained high, and we pressed on.

Amberley's Charm:

Amberley, a picturesque village nestled in the heart of West Sussex, served as the starting point for our hike. The village's charm was evident from the moment we arrived, with its quaint thatched-roof houses and peaceful atmosphere. We took a moment to appreciate the beauty of our surroundings and capture some shots with my Fujifilm X-H2S before embarking on the hike.

The Trek:

Our hike took us through a variety of landscapes, from lush forests to open fields, and along the meandering paths of the South Downs. With every step, we were treated to breathtaking views and the camaraderie of our fellow hikers. Laughter, conversation, and the occasional bark from our furry companions filled the air as we made our way toward Arundel. The entire journey was beautifully documented with my Fujifilm X-H2S, preserving these memories forever.

A Well-Deserved Reward:

After an invigorating day of hiking, we finally reached our destination: the historic town of Arundel. As we explored the streets lined with charming shops and cafes, our attention was caught by a welcoming pub. We decided it was the perfect spot to unwind and celebrate our accomplishment. We totalled an admirable 21km so all the drinks that followed were net-zero as I jokingly declared.

The pub offered an array of delicious cocktails and wine, providing the perfect end to our day. As we sipped on our drinks and exchanged stories, the bond between our Trek/Fit members grew stronger, and plans for future hikes began to take shape.

The Amberley to Arundel hike was a day filled with fun, adventure, and new connections. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our Trek/Fit LGBTQ+ hiking group. From the enchanting village of Amberley to the scenic trails of the South Downs, and finally to the welcoming atmosphere of Arundel, we made memories that will last a lifetime – all captured with my Fujifilm X-H2S. We can't wait for our next adventure together!
